Southwest Road Trip Part 5

The last part of my trip took me through most of Colorado and through some of the most scenic drives I have done in my life. If you haven’t seen the previous parts see Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4!

Ridgway, Colorado

My first stop in Colorado was in Ridgway to spend a few days at the Ridgway State Park for a bit of boating and camping. This was the first time I have spent time in this area of Colorado and it was quite impressive.

The best part about Ridgway was its proximity to some of the coolest places I have ever been too!

Ridgeway Colorado

Telluride, Colorado

I only spent half a day here but this small mountain village was pretty cool place to hang out in. I cannot wait to return in the winter. One of my favorite parts of the trip was taking the gondola to Mountain Village for a great lunch and small day hike.

Silverton, Colorado

This small town on top of a mountain was an amazing site with a pretty damn insane drive through the Million Dollar Highway. This was one of the scariest drive I have ever done and it even finished with hail and a small monsoon at the end. I also got a chance to see the Silverton Train on my way in as well.

Ouray Colorado

This became hands down one of the top places and competing with one other place to be my favorite place in Colorado. Ouray is a small mountain town that is literally slanted street which makes it interesting to walk around. I spent 4th of July here and it was such a small American town feeling where everything literally shut down for the parade and the firefighters water fight!

Crested Butte, Colorado

This was my last stop before visiting friends in Aspen, but even though it was a short visit I fell in love. Crested Butte might be one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited in my life. It sits in a mountain range that surrounds it with beautiful wild flowers. It is a small quaint town that just makes you want to never leave the moment you step foot in.

Sadly I don’t think I took a single photo the entire time I was in town, I just couldn’t get over the scenery.

Aspen, Colorado

This is not my first time in Aspen but every time I go I always love it a little more. This was the first time I hiked up Aspen mountain and I must say that altitude is no JOKE!

The best part of the hike though was that once you go all the way up and almost die at 11,000 feet, you get to ride a free gondola down!

This was also the first time I got a chance to go white water rafting nearby and I must say I am hooked!

Aspen Colorado

This was hands down one of the best trips of my life and I cannot wait to get a chance for my next one after this quarantine season is over. Some of the places I have visited will for ever be in my heart and I know I am a better person for it.

I will always say that everyone needs to take a road trip or just explore what is a few hours away. Trips like these are not terribly expensive and time consuming but people always make excuses. So get out there and do something new and exciting for yourself to truly enjoy life.

I will definitely be expanding on some of these places I have been too since I think they truly deserve more than the snipets I put in this post.
